John McEuen & The String Wizards
John McEuen brings to the eTown stqge 50+ years of worldwide performing with his banjo, fiddle, guitar, and mandolin. and weaves stories of his travels and family life (he has raised 7 kids), taking us through where his musical path has taken him, Much of his life has centered around Colorado, and, with Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, he is in the Colorado Music Hall of Fame.
Special to this appearance John is bringing his son Jonathan, renown hot guitar player and singer, for a Father's Day weekend show. Jonathan's first stage appearance was at Red Rocks when he was 6 years old! This special show will also feature string wizard fiddler Craig Eastman and previous NGDB member John Cable. Songs will include Dirt Band favorites, hot bluegrass, music from the landmark 'Circle' album, as well as a special tribute to Dan Fogelberg's Leader of the Band.
John’s love of performing has been evident since his teenage Magic Shop days in Disneyland with Steve Martin. McEuen’s show takes us ‘behind the curtain’ of the music world that so many of us know of only as listeners and shows us how we have all been a part of it, more than we may know. A founding Dirt Band founding member in 1966, John initiated the 1972 classic Will the Circle Be Unbroken album, a process he STARTED in Boulder at the famed Tulagi's in 1971. (it is now in the Library of Congress and Grammy Hall of Fame).
Proud of being an integral part of America’s first band to go to Russia (28 sold 0ut shows in 1977!), previous NGDB member John Cable was also part of that Russia trip. johncable.com.
His current Made in Brooklyn album earned the Independent Music Award’s recognition as Best Americana album!); it all comes to life in an evening of acoustic music in overdrive.
In 2017 Deering Banjo company introduced the “John McEuen model”, complementing his induction into the American Banjo Museum Hall of Fame.
Upon release in April 2018, his book – The Life I’ve
