Description

A chain-link fence surrounds the 2.9-acre park at 41st Avenue and Tennyson Street, often referred to as Alcott Park by neighborhood residents. It is on the grounds of the former Alcott School, which sat empty after 84 years of use before being destroyed by fire in 1976. The Cesar Chavez Justice Committee, which began organizing Cesar Chavez Day marches four years ago in several Denver neighborhoods, led the effort to get a park named after Chavez.
