Joy, Lindsey and Monica, are coordinating the esophageal awareness event in Colorado.
"This fundraiser is in honor of our father/husband, Roy Ivan Parrish, who passed away from Stage IV Esophageal Cancer on July 20th, 2014.
Our father began to experience symptoms of a cold in the spring of 2013. It seemed like a common cold, but he could not kick the side effects. His primary doctor decided to do some blood work and that is when the results showed we were dealing with more than just a cold.
Our father had suffered from GERD for many years and this had turned into Barrett’s esophagus. However, he was diligent in his checkups and always went in for his scopes in a timely manner. By the time blood work came back, he was diagnosed with Stage IV esophageal cancer in June 2013. The doctors said the cancer was aggressive and it grew very fast. We had another year of life with our father, but it was a tough one. As anyone knows that has experienced medical trials, there were a lot of ups and do
